The Moogseum is an “immersive, interactive facility where Bob Moog’s legacy and the science of sound comes alive for people of all ages.”
When Malcolm Meehan owner of Milton Multimedia approached me about working with him on creating interactive kiosks for a museum— I was excited. With Malcolm having 30+ years of designs and multimedia experience in 3D modeling, web, and video production this was a great opportunity for me to work with him and the Bob Moog Foundation on the Moogseum project.
If you are wondering why Bob was so important, it is because he is one of the first creators of electronic music. He’s inventions allowed bands to have their iconic sounds like the Doors, the Grateful Dead, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, and Keith Emerson.
The first kiosk interactive features 71-year of Bob Moog’s life and legacy, featuring over 1000 individual archival items, including recently made public personal documents. This also included 100 track audio jukebox and custom video player.
The second kiosk, “History of Synthesis” brings 34 historical instruments to life. Each featured instrument unique archive of photographs, videos, and history on how the instruments impacted the music scene.
Both kiosks feature custom filtering content and are coded in PHP, Javascript, and SCSS. This was my first foray in building a single page application which helped hone my programming and developed new logic to build reactive front-end components.
